REPORTS TO THE AGM
Fund raising is now limited to the Casino profits (held every 18 months), our Corner Store profits and the pull ticket program. The fashion show, raffles and silent auctions brought us very little profit and much reared volunteer support. Our next casino has been scheduled by AGLC for December 30 and 31 and we are looking for volunteers. Call Sharon at (780) 454-1701 if you’d like to participate in what should be a special New Year’s Eve to welcome in 2019.
Pet Therapy continues to be popular every Monday evening.
Our new website is active thanks to Judith Dyck and continued refinement by our board secretary Nicole and information such as FOGhorns are added along with other current items of interest. Nicole is working on our history as created by Barb Deters, and is planning to add it to our website when ready.
Our lap blanket program has proven to be very successful and popular with patients. In the past year Friends handed out about 1,300. We are looking for a new community sponsor to join the Foundataion and us, as the Oilers Community Foundation has backed out of the program.
The Arts in Rehabilitation program has lost its provincial funding this year, so Friends is looking at helping out financially.
The special holiday voucher program, which give discounts to patients at the Corner Store and Hair Salon continues to be poplar.
The vendor market program has gone through some revisions and simplifications. Traffic to the patient areas past the market area seems to be down, and smarter buying has seen visitors and patients apparently giving greater support to the Corner Store.
NOTE: Judy Krupp announced that this will be the final year of her functioning as president and will step down in May 2019.
